The Carbono Biodiverso Registry is an innovative digital platform that ensures full traceability from reported emissions to the exact lands under regeneration by local landholders, while facilitating reporting, verification, operational transparency, and visibility.

Accountability is maintained across all three sectors: the private sector, the Sierra Gorda Ecological Group, and the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Querétaro.

Carbono Biodiverso was created with the core mission of democratising socio-environmental and economic value. While other carbon programs are designed exclusively for large-scale landowners, the Carbono Biodiverso software makes it possible for small- to medium-sized landowners to register their land as well, creating a transformative pathway for rural communities where poverty is replaced with stable income.

How it Works

Robust data management and impact visualisation

The Carbono Biodiverso Registry is a scalable digital platform tailored to the realities of landscape-level conservation. It integrates multiple properties, each with its own carbon sequestration factors linked to biodiversity type, into a single, transparent system. Every carbon transaction is fully traceable through a public log and a satellite-linked map, ensuring credibility, accountability, and trust. The platform combines automation, transparency, and long-term monitoring.

1. Land is registered.

When a landowner expresses interest, Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda assesses the land on-site to determine eligibility. If it meets the protocol’s criteria, it is registered in the program.

2. Land carbon inventory.

Carbono Biodiverso recognises that each property’s carbon sequestration potential is unique and never relies on general estimates.Instead, field teams conduct on-site carbon inventories to measure biomass and assess key ecological factors like tree species, forest age, and land type.

3. Land is coded.

The land’s annual carbon sequestration is calculated based on forest type and formally recorded. Each property receives a unique code and an official annual carbon sequestration figure.

4. Inventory blocks created.

Each year, these carbon inventories are conducted for all registered properties, generating verified inventory blocks from the collected data. This verified carbon amount can now be used in a transaction to fulfill a company’s carbon compensation requirements. Could we have a roll over ‘Roll over and read the codes’)

5. Company transactions made

Companies seeking to offset their emissions can now purchase these verified carbon sequestration units.
